They had to get rid of the mattress because the bugs just kept coming to the surface. I don’t think you can get very deep with the steaming, and the eggs might be a ways down in there. But what I would do is try the steaming and vacuuming first, then let if go for a few days to see if any of the bed bugs can still be found.
Remember that you have to clean everything else as well, that is, pillows, pillowcases, sheets, bed clothes. These have to be washed hot as possible and to be dried with your high heat setting, too, to kill the bed bugs and eggs. You don’t want these critters coming back because you forgot one step. You can also see if they are good dealing with people.
